FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – A 35-year-old man from Kaukauna who was allegedly swerving between lanes on I-41 was arrested after a high-speed pursuit ended in Fond du Lac County.
According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, deputies got word from the Kaukauna Police Department of a pursuit on I-41 from Wisconsin Avenue. This was around 3 a.m. on Saturday, August 16.
Kaukauna PD stated that the original traffic stop was for a speed violation. Kaukauna officers tried using Stop Sticks tire deflation devices, but they were unsuccessful and had to end the pursuit.
Shortly after, a deputy with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office found the suspect southbound on I-41 and tried to pull over the vehicle. That pursuit was also terminated.
Fond du Lac County deputies positioned themselves on I-41 and spotted the suspect on I-41 at the Winnebago County line. Deputies say the driver, later identified as a 35-year-old man from Kaukauna, was driving at a ‘high rate of speed’ and ‘weaving in both lanes.’
Tire deflation devices were then successful on I-41 near Korth Road, deflating all four tires.
The man was taken into custody without further incident just south of CTH N, and was arrested for felony fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, and suspicion of operating while impaired.
The Fond du Lac County pursuit lasted roughly 2.7 miles.
No injuries were reported.
