OCONTO, Wis. (WFRV) – Anglers from across Wisconsin will converge on Oconto this weekend as more than 60 two-person teams compete in the AIM Weekend Walleye Series Wisconsin Division Championship.
The competition runs Friday and Saturday, beginning at 7 a.m. each day at Oconto’s Breakwater Park with weigh-ins starting around 4:30 p.m.

Organizers say the event is more than just a fishing competition — it’s also a major economic driver for the community and a showcase of the Bay of Green Bay’s world-class walleye fishing.
“Events like the AIM Championship demonstrate exactly why angling is such a cornerstone of our local economies,” said Jayme Sellen, executive director of TEDCOR. “When over 60 teams descend on Oconto for a weekend, they’re not just fishing — they’re exploring everything our region has to offer.”
The stakes are high, with 10 qualifying spots available for the 2026 AIM Warrior Boats National Championship Shootout. The winning team at nationals will take home a fully-loaded V193DC Warrior boat package worth $105,000.
Tournament director Denny Fox said AIM’s trademarked Catch-Record-Release system ensures conservation remains central to the competition. “All the fish caught will be immediately released for the community to catch again,” he said.
The championship kicks off each day with the playing of the national anthem and a single-file team takeoff. Friday’s results will be posted on AIM’s Facebook page beginning at 3 p.m., and Saturday will feature a stage weigh-in with the top 10 teams and interviews with the top five finishers.
Spectators can follow along live on AIM’s Facebook page or join the action in person at Breakwater Park.
