GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Major improvements are officially underway at Leicht Memorial Park in Green Bay following a ceremonial press conference Tuesday morning.
Mayor Eric Genrich joined city officials and community leaders to announce the start of the comprehensive project, which aims to transform the waterfront park into a premier destination for events and recreation.

The redevelopment will feature a new pavilion with concessions, restrooms, event space, and an overlook deck with Fox River views. Additional upgrades will enhance infrastructure to support the park’s role as a hub for festivals and community programming.
City leaders expect the improvements to draw more than 150,000 people annually and mark a significant investment in both Green Bay’s downtown and its park system.
“Today marks an exciting milestone for our community as we begin transforming Leicht Memorial Park into an even more vibrant gathering place,” Mayor Genrich said. “This project will enhance our downtown waterfront while creating new opportunities for the festivals, concerts, and community celebrations that make Green Bay special.”
Construction will proceed in phases, with pavilion completion expected by fall 2026.
The project builds on the park’s established role hosting major events such as the Levitt AMP Green Bay Music Series, festivals, and the Draft City Music Fest during the 2025 NFL Draft.
“This project represents our commitment to maintaining Green Bay’s parks as world-class destinations,” said Dan Ditscheit, city parks director.
