MARION, Wis. (WFRV) – The Marion community gathered on Thursday to celebrate and attend a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of improvements to Marion Elementary School and Marion High School.
Officials say the Marion School District Referendum and its projects represent a notable milestone for the District and its surrounding communities.

Community members, school district representatives, and students attended the ceremony on August 21 that featured remarks from District Administrator and 7-12 Principal Troy Edwards, School Board President John Schwartz, Mayor Goke, and Hoffman’s Director of Project Management Matt McGregor.

The project will accommodate work at Marion Elementary School for the move of the Middle School from the High School building. The majority of the funding will be allocated from the project’s $14.98 million budget.

It will also be used for infrastructure upgrades at the Elementary School and a new secure entry at Marion High School.
The groundbreaking was followed by the District’s annual Back-to-School Open House and Tailgate Celebration.
Construction is set to begin in September and continue throughout the school year. All construction projects are scheduled to be completed by the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
