(WFRV) – An investigation into an incident of sexual assault on a child has resulted in the arrest of a Wisconsin man in South Carolina, authorities say.
According to a release from the Wisconsin Dells Police Department, police began an investigation in late 2024 into a child sexual assault that allegedly occurred in 2012.
Two arrested after gunshot incident in Two Rivers
As a result of the initial investigation, two counts of charges of 1st Degree Child Sex Assault – Sexual Contact or Sexual Intercourse with a Person under Age of 13 were filed on June 4, 2025, against 52-year-old Jeremy Allen Schertz, formerly from the Wisconsin Dells area.
Officials say a nationwide warrant for Schertz was issued on June 25, 2025. He was reportedly found and arrested on August 12 in South Carolina by the Horry County Police Department. Schertz has since been extradited to Wisconsin to face the mentioned charges.
