(WFRV) – Undefeated 5’8″ heavyweight Donte Johnson was awarded a UFC contract by President & CEO Dana White after defeating Darion Abbey on Tuesday evening in Las Vegas during White’s Contender Series.
Johnson, a 2017 Fond du Lac graduate and former Fox Valley Association Wrestler of the Year, is now 6-0, with all six wins coming by knockout or technical knockout in his professional career. It took Johnson just over a minute to power his way to victory Tuesday night before earning the UFC contract.
“All I can do is thank God for making this possible. Where I come from, it’s humble beginnings — it’s all God. I feel blessed and highly favored right now,” Johnson said in an interview following his victory.
“Donte, I didn’t get to see much of your game because you made it look easy,” White said before awarding Johnson a contract. “You took this fight on short notice. I love your enthusiasm, and I loved your performance. Congratulations.”
