(WGN Radio) – Fans of Portillo’s can order new types of burgers and fries – if they know how to order them, that is.
The restaurant chain is tripling up its cheeseburger and adding it to the Portillo’s “secret menu.”
The Triple Cheeseburger consists of three one-third-pound, char-broiled beef patties, topped with cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles and ketchup on a toasted bun.
Along with the triple cheeseburger, Portillo’s is adding more to another all-time favorite of Chicago food lovers. Their famous crinkle-cut cheese fries can now be ordered as Chili Cheese Fries.

Both items can only be ordered on the digital kiosks in their restaurants by Portillo’s Perks Members (which you can sign up for at Portillos.com/perks).
Portillo’s started in the Chicago area in 1963, and now has more than 20 locations around Illinois. They also have restaurants in Arizona, California, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
There are four Portillo’s in Wisconsin, two in the Madison area and two in the Milwaukee area.
While the new items are in the classic American burger-and-fry territory, Portillo’s recommends ordering something else if you’re a first-time diner: “Order an Italian beef, dipped with sweet or hot peppers (add mozzarella if you’re feeling cheesy), or a Chicago-style hot dog ‘dragged through the garden’ and you’ll see what all the hype is about.”
