OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – Local youth in Oshkosh got an opportunity to learn about multiple technology skills from those who practice it every day, courtesy of Best Buy’s Geek Squad Academy.
The two-day tech camp kicked off at 8 a.m. on Wednesday at the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh, running until 3 p.m., as Best Buy employees offered their expertise on coding, game design, photography, 3D design and plenty of other skills.

The program was started after a female Geek Squad Agent felt that while Best Buy had been teaching high schoolers how to build computers, none of the events were geared towards young women.
Thus, she started the first Geek Squad Summer Academy Camp in Chicago and the events now occur in over 100 cities and military bases in the United States and Canada.

The hands-on program is designed for ages 10-18, with a second day in Oshkosh set for Thursday at 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
