GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – This morning at 6:30 a.m., Mission 76 of the Old Glory Honor Flight lifted off from Appleton International Airport (ATW), carrying 92 veterans, including one female veteran, ranging in age from 69 to 94, on a complimentary, day-long commemorative journey to Washington, D.C.
This mission marks a significant milestone as part of Old Glory Honor Flight’s efforts, which have now carried more than 7,000 veterans to visit memorials in the nation’s capital.

A volunteer medical team, composed of doctors and nurses, accompanied the veterans on this flight to ensure their health and safety throughout the journey, a vital but often overlooked element of the program.
The flight is scheduled to return some time before 10 p.m. this evening, with a warm welcome home planned at ATW.
Local communities are encouraged to join in the welcome-home ceremony. In past missions, hundreds have gathered in the terminal to honor the veterans as they disembark.
The next and final Old Glory Honor Flight of the year is scheduled for October 28.
