APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – It wasn’t a typical first day of school for Frankie Plutz, but it’s certainly one she’ll remember for the rest of her life.
The Jefferson Elementary fifth-grader was awarded two tickets to Super Bowl LX on Tuesday morning, courtesy of a partnership between the National Football League and the American Heart Association.

Plutz used one word to accurately describe her reaction to the news:
“Surprised!”
The collaboration by the NFL and AHA is a devotion to encouraging young people to learn Hands Only CPR. The AHA’s in-school programs, Kids Heart Challenge™ and American Heart Challenge™, taught students how to perform Hands Only CPR.
Each participant in the program during 2024-25 became eligible to win a prize courtesy of the NFL and AHA. Plutz’s two tickets to see the 60th Super Bowl, which takes place on February 8, 2026, in Santa Clara, California, and she said she’ll be going with her mom.
Plutz was one of just five students who participated in the program nationwide that won the big prize to attend the nation’s most-watched and viewed annual sporting event.
In 2025-26, students will once again have the opportunity to get a lucky win like Plutz, as the NFL and AHA are holding a similar giveaway with five participants during this school year nationwide, giving students a chance to win tickets to Super Bowl LXI.
According to the release, over 350,000 cardiac arrests in the United States occur outside of a hospital annually, with about 70% at home. 9 out of 10 people who suffer a cardiac arrest outside the hospital die, with the lack of immediate CPR being a cause over half the time.
