GRAND CHUTE, Wis. (WFRV) – Grand Chute Police Chief Greg Peterson was honored Tuesday evening as the community came together to celebrate his retirement after a 45-year career in law enforcement.
The recognition took place during the Grand Chute Town Board meeting where Peterson was celebrated for his leadership and the lasting impact he has made on the department and community.
Peterson, who began his career as a patrol officer with the Appleton Police Department in 1980, went to serve 15 years as Grand Chute chief. During his tenure, the department expanded with K-9 units, a drone first-responder program, and a strong focus on officer training and career development.
“My tenure as chief has been the pinnacle of a career that has spanned more than 44 years,” Peterson said earlier this year, reflecting on his time with the department.
His official retirement date is Friday, September 12, 2025, and the Police and Fire Commission is in the process of hiring his successor.
