MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) – The East Central Wisconsin Regional Safe Routes to School program has launched a new program called The Safety of Our Students Depends on You to encourage safer walking and biking for students across the region.
Throughout the east central region you will see yard signs, posters, and banners aimed at raising awareness.
A press release says the campaign calls on parents, schools, drivers, and community members to work together to make routes to school safer. Key reminders include slowing down in school zones, watching for children walking or biking, and crossing at designated intersections and crosswalks.

“Walking and biking to school should be safe and accessible for every child,” said Jennie Mayer, Safe Routes to School Coordinator. She highlights that the campaign is about reminding drivers, parents, students and neighbors, that we all share a responsibility to keep our communities safe and healthy.
The initiative will provide educational resources for families and schools, social media messaging to raise awareness, and opportunities for community partnerships.
The East Central Wisconsin Safe Routes to School Program serves 44 school districts across seven counties, helping reduce traffic congestion, improve safety, and promote healthier lifestyles through walking and biking.
