KAUKAUNA, Wis. (WFRV) – A 12-year-old girl is recovering after being hit by a vehicle while riding an electric scooter in Kaukauna around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Kurt Islinger, who lives near Catherine Street and Amanda Street where the incident occurred, told Local 5’s Ellie Davis about the incident from his perspective.
“She was on a scooter over here from a Kwik Trip and got hit, and they ended up over here and she was stuck under the car,” Islinger said. “A bunch of people came out and pulled her out from underneath it.”
The Kaukauna Police Department said the girl had injuries to her arm and shoulder. She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Islinger has two children who attend River View Middle School, just down the street. He says his children just arrived home from school before the incident.
“They got home about 10 minutes before it happened,“ Islinger said. “There are crossing guards down there, but there aren’t any up here.”
While the scooter was damaged in the crash, Islinger says the outcome could have been far worse.

“It could have been a lot worse, definitely scary,” Islinger said.
The Kaukauna Police Department reported the incident is still under investigation.
