ELLINGTON, Wis. (WFRV) – Two trucks were involved in a crash on Wednesday evening that left one man injured, with officials citing alcohol and speed as possible factors in the incident.
The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office reported that it was dispatched around 6 p.m. on Wednesday for a two-vehicle accident with injury on County Road S near Cummings Road in Ellington.
Officials say that the preliminary investigation indicated that a mid-sized truck towing a boat lost control while traveling eastbound on County Road S, crossing the centerline and going into oncoming traffic.
The mid-sized truck, driven by a 32-year-old Hortonville man, crashed into the driver’s side of a full-sized truck that was towing a dual-axle trailer. The 32-year-old man was hospitalized for injuries; however, the full-sized truck driver, a 21-year-old Hortonville man, was left unharmed.
Officials believe alcohol and speed were factors in the crash, which caused the road to be closed for roughly 90 minutes; however, it is reopened.
