JANESVILLE, Wis. (WFRV) – A man registered as a sex offender in Wisconsin is now in custody after being arrested for child pornography on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a release from the Janesville Police Department, officers received information in April that a convicted sex offender, 36-year-old Tyler Minarick, was reportedly communicating with a child in Ohio.
Over the next four months, detectives from the Janesville and Delavan Police Departments interviewed Minarick and served search warrants on his electronics.
Officials say they did find child pornography on the suspect’s phone and he was arrested around 3:30 p.m. on September 2, in the 3600 block of Milton Avenue.
Minarik now faces the following potential charges:
- Possession of Child Pornography – 5 counts
- Causing a Child to View/Listen to Sexual Activity – 2 counts
- Exposing Genitals to a Child – 2 counts
- Sexual Exploitation of a Child – 1 count
- Registered Sex Offender Photographing a Minor – 2 counts
The suspect is now being held at the Rock County Jail, where he awaits his initial court appearance. No other information is available at this time.
