CHASEBURG, Wis. (WFRV) – Two young adults were seriously injured Monday night after being ejected from a motorcycle that crashed on a state highway in Wisconsin.
The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of State Highway 162 and Petticoat Junction in rural Chaseburg.

A preliminary investigation found that 23-year-old Benjamin T. Schmidt of Chaseburg was operating a cruiser-style motorcycle northbound with a passenger when he lost control in a curve.
Both Schmidt and his passenger, 20-year-old Lilly A. Doudna of Soldiers Grove, were thrown from the motorcycle.

Deputies said neither rider was wearing a helmet, protective clothing, or eye protection. Both suffered serious injuries and were transported by ambulance to a La Crosse hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
