GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Mayor Eric Genrich and multiple other officials gathered at one resident’s home to highlight the impact and success of the Grow Solar Green Bay – Fox Valley program as it enters the final month.
The press conference on Thursday morning came at a critical time for any homeowner in Wisconsin interested in solar energy, as the recently passed One Big Beautiful Bill eliminates the 30% federal solar tax credit as of December 31.
With that cut, the Grow Solar program has a September 30 deadline for Green Bay area residents to try and secure the federal tax credit, which saves an average of $4,520 on a typical system.
Over 130 residents have signed up for solar assessments since it started in the spring, with multiple educational events throughout the region. The ‘group buy’ model surpassed its first benchmark and is already approaching the next threshold.

According to a release, the federal tax credit’s elimination impacts the industry, especially as solar installations take months to occur from the contract to the actual completion.
