BYRON, Wis. (WFRV) – An 18-year-old from Illinois was arrested in Fond du Lac County early Friday morning following a five-mile pursuit that reached speeds of 130 mph.
According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy clocked a speeding vehicle on I-41 north around 1 a.m. on Friday, September 5, in the Town of Byron near Church Road. The vehicle was reportedly going 88 in the posted 70 mph zone.
When the deputy tried to stop the vehicle, the driver allegedly accelerated to more than 130 mph while trying to ‘evade’ law enforcement. Deputies say the driver, later identified as an 18-year-old from Illinois, exited I-41 onto Highway 151, ran a red light, and then got back onto I-41 northbound.

After a roughly five-mile pursuit, the vehicle eventually pulled over on I-41 near Hickory Street and was subsequently taken into custody.
The 18-year-old was booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail for felony fleeing and eluding an officer and possession of THC.
