RIDGEWAY, Wis. (WFRV) – A 60-year-old Wisconsin man was arrested after he admitted to moving a barricade and entering a closed-off construction zone on Thursday morning.
The Iowa County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were dispatched around 10:49 a.m. on Thursday to a reported crash and disturbance near the intersection of US-18-151 and County Road HHH in Ridgeway.

Deputies at the scene identified the operator as 60-year-old Brian McConnell of Ridgeway, who admitted to moving a barricade and entering a marked closed construction zone.
Preliminary investigations indicated that McConnell attempted to turn around in the active area and that he did so at high speeds, nearly crashing into a worker in front of a parked semi. McConnell’s vehicle rolled back, hitting the semi after he exited to confront workers.

McConnell was found near the Ridgeway Marshal Office later on Thursday, and was arrested on felony charges of First-Degree Reckless Endangerment.
The Iowa County Sheriff’s Office added that the public is urged to respect all posted construction signs and road closures to ensure all safety.
