DAYTON, Wis. (WFRV) – One person was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash on Saturday evening in Waupaca County after reportedly being struck by a vehicle.
According to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, a report came in around 5:20 p.m. on Saturday that a pedestrian was hit while crossing the road on County Highway Q near Mary Street in Dayton.

Officials arrived at the crash site and attempted life-saving procedures; however, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a sport utility vehicle heading west on County Highway Q struck a pedestrian in the roadway as the driver passed through Mary Street. The driver came to a stop and stayed at the scene.

The driver was reportedly unharmed in the crash and is cooperating with law enforcement.
