“I think especially with some of those littles, they grow so fast, and it’s just fun. You are growing that whole child; it isn’t just academics. There are so many pieces, it’s just very rewarding to do,” said Nicole.
Elise is just starting her career as a kindergarten teacher, but for her, this classroom is where she belongs.
“These kids have such a zest for life, they just want to take everything in and they take everything they can like a little sponge, and I just am able to see the world through their eyes and take in those new things,” said Elise.
Elise grew up learning in these same classrooms. Now she has a mentor down the hall she also calls mom.
“It isn’t too bad. Some people think, how could you do that with your daughter, isn’t that weird? But it is really not,” said Nicole.
“The staff here really looks out for one another, so she is just a part of that big family here now,” Nicole echoed.
Elise says she sees herself through how her mother teaches.
“When you are around teachers all the time, you just pick up on all of these things, and you don’t even realize you’re doing some of them,” said Elise.
Nicole has had the unique experience of watching her daughter step into the same role she once had.

“She actually has kids in her class that I thought their parents were in kindergarten, and now she’s teaching their kids kindergarten. So it is a full-circle moment for sure.”
A full-circle moment for a family of educators, continuing the tradition of teaching in Brillion.
