OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – The Wisconsin Department of Transportation and other officials provided some new details ahead of the opening of the WIS 15/Northland Avenue Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI).
The new layout is set to open next week on Monday, September 15, as the DDI aims to improve safety and traffic flow by making a left turn onto the freeway a less grueling process.

“Those Diverging Diamond Interchanges are going to improve the operations, especially in the Appleton urban area, where there are high amounts of left-turning vehicles,” I-41 Design Project Manager Scott Ebel said.
The change is part of the overarching I-41 project to reconstruct and expand 23 miles of the interstate from four to six lanes, spanning from Appleton to De Pere.
