MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – A research facility at the University of Wisconsin-Madison was evacuated Monday morning after reports of a suspicious package.
According to the UW-Madison Police Department, authorities were notified of the potential threat at Enzyme Hall. A short time later, a WiscAlert was issued advising people to avoid the area.
Police determined the item contained a drug that was not dangerous, and the all clear was given for people to return to the building.
The incident remains under investigation. Authorities remind the public to contact local law enforcement if they encounter a potentially dangerous device so it can be safely handled and disposed of.
