MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) – A welfare check in Wisconsin led to a person’s death after a police officer reportedly struck them with their squad car in the entrance of an alleyway.
According to the Milwaukee Police Department, officers were dispatched to a call in the 1500 block of South 20th Street at 10:58 a.m. on Tuesday for a welfare check on a person walking in and out of the street.
An officer arrived at the scene, and while checking the area, struck a person lying in the entrance of an alley with his squad car. The unidentified adult was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
The officer, a 44-year-old man with over 18 years in the force, was placed on administrative duty per department policy.
This incident is still under investigation.
