BRIDGEPORT, Wis. (WFRV) – Two people from Iowa were arrested in Wisconsin on Sunday for alleged shoplifting as well as possession of multiple drug-related items.
Crawford County Sheriff Dale McCullick reports that deputies were alerted to a reported shoplifting incident in progress involving two individuals.
Officials arrived at the scene and made contact with two suspects, identified as 38-year-old Molly Schlegel of Postville, Iowa, and 39-year-old Nathan Bantz of Elgin, Iowa. Deputies discovered that both had possession of drug items.
Officials found meth in Schlegel’s purse, along with hypodermic needles with residual meth and marijuana in Bantz’s possession. A Prairie Du Chien Police Department K9 assisted and alerted to at least one controlled substance in their vehicle, finding the following items:
- Meth smoking devices
- Plastic bags
- Digital scale

Additional stolen items from another store were also reportedly in their vehicle, and the two were arrested on the following charges:
- Molly Schlegel
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Retail theft – party to a crime
- Nathan Bantz
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of marijuana – 2nd offense
- Operating while under the influence
- Resisting
- Retail theft
Bantz was also cited for operating a vehicle with a suspended registration, open intoxicants and without a valid driver’s license.
