FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – A longtime staple of downtown Fond du Lac is preparing to turn the page.
Edith’s Bridal and Tuxedo, which first opened its doors on Sept. 17, 1937, has been a go-to destination for generations of brides, grooms and families. For nearly nine decades, the shop has helped customers find wedding gowns, bridesmaids dresses, tuxedos, prom dresses and more.

Owners Tom and Cathy have announced their retirement and are hoping to find a new owner to carry on the shop’s legacy.
“Maybe the new owners would like to change it up a bit, just as times change,” Tom said. “Tuxedos are always a big seller and attraction. Gowns of all sorts — prom dresses, mother of the bride, homecoming dresses — are not only fun, but a different perspective on this area of business as well.”

As they near retirement, Tom and Cathy are offering closeout sales of up to 70% off. They say their hope is for someone to purchase Edith’s and keep it as a cornerstone of the downtown community.
For those interested in a new journey, they believe the business still has plenty of life left in it.
