FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – Wisconsin’s Best Bricklayer would be crowned in Fond du Lac on Wednesday as the ‘Super Bowl of Masonry’ kicked off at Fond du Lac Natural Stone on Wednesday morning.
The 2025 Wisconsin SPEC MIX Bricklayer 500 regional event was one of 22 qualifiers across the continent, with bricklayers being tested on their skills, speed and endurance.

The goal? Build the highest and best 26-foot-long brick wall in just 60 minutes with as few errors as possible, with a judging panel in attendance to subtract mistakes from the total number of bricks.
SPEC MIX Regional Sales Rep Dan Neuens said that two of the judges were already competitors in the past, and they weren’t just competitors, they were champions, in Mike Schlund and Jake Brock.
“Mike Schlund is a two-time champion, the first time we’ve ever had a back-to-back world champion,” Neuens said.
