FOX CITIES, Wis. (WFRV) – The three-day Community First Fox Cities Marathon weekend began on Friday night with races for the youngest runners.
Hundreds of kids participated in a variety of racing opportunities at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium on Friday evening. The event featured a diaper dash crawl for the babies, an obstacle course toddler trot on the field, and a chance to run the bases for the older kids.
Later in the evening, there was a quarter and half mile race around the baseball field for the kids and even a mascot race. Event organizers tell Local 5 News it’s their priority to have people of all paces, abilities, and ages be able to experience the electricity of a race atmosphere.
Organizers said that about 4000 people will participate in all the different events this week. It takes about 1800 volunteers to make it all happen.
The 5k and 10k runs go off from Riverside Park in Neenah on Saturday. The marathon and half marathon kick off bright and early at 7 a.m. on Sunday. This is the 34th year of the event.
