PESHTIGO, Wis. (WFRV) – On Tuesday evening, firefighters in Marinette County stayed at the scene of a house fire for several hours. The fire caused significant damage and left one cat dead.
Around 7 p.m. on September 23, the Town of Peshitgo Fire Department says they were called to a home on Kingston Lane for reports of a home “filling with smoke.”
The first crews to arrive were told that no one was home and were met with heavy smoke and flames coming from the basement and stairwell.

The fire was quickly put out; however, it caused significant damage to the home’s interior. As crews worked to search the home for residents and pets, one cat was rescued and another was pronounced dead.
Firefighters were at the scene for several hours to make sure the fire was completely put out and to remove smoke from the home.
