The Door County Campus of the Wisconsin Humane Society posted Facebook photos of the aptly-named kitten Splash, a two-month-old kitten that was going back and forth on the bridge; however, little Splash jumped over the side of the bridge to escape traffic.

A woman named Stephanie, driving on the bridge, witnessed the poor little kitten’s mishap and immediately turned around to drop off her daughter, Angelynn, who ran to the docks in an effort to find the kitten.
The kitten was unfortunately out of reach, but Stephanie and Angelynn flagged down a woman named Melissa and her husband, who were boating nearby, and they immediately went over to try to fish the kitten out of the water.
Angelynn said that what inspired her to take action was her desire to ensure Splash could have another chance, especially being so young. She also referred to the common phrase ‘cats have nine lives.’
“She was so young and I wanted to give her another one of the eight chances she has,” Angelynn said. “[Humane Society] said we did the right thing.”

Fortunately, Melissa and her husband were able to do so, and the kitten was brought to the dock, and Angelynn wrapped the scared little kitten in her sweater for warmth and named her Splash.
Splash was taken back to their home, and given a warm bath, a meal and a much-needed rest on a heated blanket. The family brought Splash to the Door County Campus of the Wisconsin Humane Society, and the veterinary team gave her a full checkup.
Little Splash was relatively healthy compared to the terrifying situation, with just an upper respiratory infection. She had no broken bones or any indicators of pneumonia and is doing well.

The Door County Campus of the Wisconsin Humane Society said the following about the situation:
“We are truly in awe of the heroes who came to Splash’s rescue. Melissa and her husband thought they were just heading out for a “quick little last boat ride of the season,” but soon became feline first responders, assisting Stephanie and her kids in a lifesaving race against the clock. You all are incredible, and we’re so lucky to have such compassionate, selfless neighbors like you in our community!”
In a scary situation, the community rose to the occasion, and as a result, Splash is recovering at the shelter with a full recovery expected.
