MANITOWOC, Wis. (WFRV) – Jesse Vang, the boyfriend of Katrina Baur, had a status conference on Friday regarding the death of 3-year-old Elijah Vue.
During Vang’s status conference on the morning of September 26, Vang’s attorney said they plan to file motions within the next 90 days. A scheduling conference was set for early next year.
Vang, 40, currently faces three felony charges and one misdemeanor charge, including the Physical Abuse of a Child – Repeated Acts Causing Death, Hiding a Corpse, and Chronic Neglect of a Child.
Status conference held for mother of Elijah Vue, another hearing date set
On June 20, Vang had a notice of hearing after his attorneys’ previous requested, and were granted, more time to review ‘thousands of pages’ of paperwork.
Elijah’s mother, Katrina Baur, is also facing a number of charges, including Chronic Neglect of a Child Resulting in Death, Neglecting a Child Under 6 Years Old or with a Disability, and two counts of Resisting an Officer. Both have entered not guilty pleas.
Elijah Vue’s remains were found in Two Rivers a year ago, in September. Elijah was initially reported missing on February 20, 2024, by Vang.
Vang’s next court appearance is scheduled for January 8, 2026, at 9 a.m.
Baur also had a status conference on Friday morning, where another status conference was scheduled for November 20 at 9 a.m.
