WAUSAU, Wis. (WFRV) – Two people were pronounced dead, and another was hospitalized, at the scene of a head-on crash in central Wisconsin on Friday night.
Deputies with the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office say they are investigating the head-on collision that happened around 10 p.m. on September 26 near the intersection of State Highway 52 and Forest Lawn Road in Wausau.
When first responders arrived at the scene, two people were pronounced dead, one person was taken to a local hospital with ‘serious’ injuries, and another was treated at the scene.

State Highway 52 was reportedly closed for roughly six hours while investigators processed the scene and crews worked to clear the road.
The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wausau Police Department, the Town of Wausau Fire and First Responders, the City of Wausau Fire and EMS, the Marathon County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Marathon County Highway Department.
