HOBART, Wis. (WFRV) – The Hobart Village Board of Trustees met on Wednesday evening to discuss potentially purchasing 7-8 acres of the Joe DeNoble Sewer & Water Construction property for the Hobart Municipal Center.
The discussion centered around the idea of using the land for a new police station and new village hall, with construction on each beginning in 2028 and 2028-29, respectively. A new Public Works facility would also be on the property in the early part of the 2030s.

The vote went in favor of the proposed Hobart Municipal Center, with a unanimous vote to approve it. The plan, according to the Meeting Notice, is to purchase the land for about $6.2 million and take possession in July 2028.
“The property we’d been considering brings availability, as a lot of land in Hobart isn’t available, speaking to the desirability of the village,” Village President Richard Heidel said. “It’s about a mile away from where we currently are.”

Village President Heidel added that the size of the property was another part, and the financing, giving the Board an opportunity they couldn’t pass up.
The current Village Hall is still planned to be kept by the Board, with potential ideas of a museum or activity center taking its place; however, Village President Heidel said it’s a secondary nature at this moment in time.
