54-year-old Wisconsin man identified as suspect in homicide case after hours-long standoff with police

HUDSON, Wis. (WFRV) – Police in Wisconsin identified the suspect who was arrested after officers found one woman dead Wednesday evening upon a home search following an hours-long standoff.

The Hudson Police Department said that officers responded around 3:09 p.m. on Wednesday for a welfare check at a home in the 1600 block of Namekagon Street.

The release said that officers spoke with a man inside, whose comments led police to believe that somebody inside may be in danger.

The man reportedly refused to exit and threatened to end his life by making police shoot him. The standoff lasted several hours, before the man was taken into custody outside without incident.

Officers then searched the home and found a dead woman. In an updated release, police identified the man as 54-year-old Chad Aaron Haworth of Hudson, who is reportedly a resident of a home in the same block.

Haworth has been arrested on the following charges, all with modifiers for the use of a dangerous weapon:

  • 1st-degree intentional homicide
  • Mayhem
  • Aggravated battery with intent to cause great harm, domestic abuse with infliction of physical pain/injury
