On April 25, 2022, Miller, who was then 30 years old, entered a residence on Georgia Street in Sturgeon Bay without permission from the owner or any occupant inside.

The home was occupied by an adult female and two five-year-old children.

Miller wielded a hedge trimmer and brutally attacked the woman, leaving her injured and in need of medical treatment.

Miller then hit one of the children with his hand, injuring the child. Both children fled to another room where they barricaded themselves inside until police arrived.
