9:45 P.M. UPDATE

A severe thunderstorm is moving out of Marathon County and is affecting western Shawano and much of Langlade County until 10:30 p.m. The storm is producing hail up to 1 inch in diameter, wind gusts up to 60 mph, and has shown signs of rotation, though not strong enough for a tornado warning.

Reports indicate the storm has caused damage in Marathon County, with winds gusting over 50 mph.

7:50 P.M. UPDATE

A tornado watch has been issued for part of our viewing area until 2 a.m. tonight. A watch does not mean anything is imminent, but the conditions are looking likely for isolated spin-up tornadoes to develop tonight. Please make sure to download the Storm Team 5 app and be ready to go if a warning were to be issued.

7 P.M. UPDATE

Three separate severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued for portions of Florence, Forest, Langlade, Menominee and Marinette counties. Impacts include hail up to 1 inch in diameter, winds gusting to 60 mph, lightning, downpours, and storms showing signs of rotation but not to the level of confidence to issue a tornado warning.

6 P.M. UPDATE

Severe weather is still absent across the WFRV coverage area, just a few non-severe storms passing off to our north and west. However, here locally, our temperatures are still very mild in the 70s and dew points are climbing as a warm front continues to lift north.

Our atmosphere is capped, so storms are having a tough time sustaining itself. As our air becomes more unstable, we will have to monitor the potential of cells to pop up across the Northwoods, followed by a line of storms for all during the overnight hours.

With this happening at night, please have a way to get weather information. A good app to download is the Storm Team 5 Weather App.
