GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – In a remarkable display of community spirit, Green Bay welcomed the NFL Draft with open arms, defying unpredictable weather conditions that threatened to dampen the festivities.
Mayor Eric Genrich praised the strong attendance, noting that the event’s success might prompt the NFL to consider Green Bay for future events.

“The really strong attendance, in spite of some spotty weather on Thursday and Friday, I think the NFL is going to take another look at Green Bay when the time is right,” said Mayor Genrich.
The 2025 draft was not just an event; it was a collaborative effort that brought together various local organizations and teams.
Mayor Genrich expressed gratitude to the NFL, the Green Bay Packers, Discover Green Bay and the public safety teams who dedicated months to planning the occasion.
“We’re certainly thrilled with how things went, and kudos to everyone involved,” he added.
The village of Ashwaubenon was proactive in its preparations, launching plans immediately after the NFL Draft announcement.
Village managers highlighted the essential contributions made by local public safety teams.
Tom Rolling, the interim chief of public safety in Ashwaubenon, shared insights into the coordination efforts.
“The SWAT team was asking to have our teams, Green Bay Metro Fire Department was asking for assistance with rescue squads and medics to help, and the Green Bay Police Department was asking for help within the footprint,” he explained.

Traffic management was also a priority, with Joshua Falk, a traffic engineer from WisDOT Northeast Region, emphasizing the importance of monitoring the flow of vehicles in and around the area to provide timely updates.
