‘Cleaning mode’ starts oven fire in De Pere, no damages or injuries reported

DE PERE, Wis. (WFRV) – Fire officials in De Pere say there was no damage or injuries reported following an oven fire in De Pere Monday night.

According to a release from the De Pere Fire Rescue, crews responded at 9:57 p.m. to an apartment complex on 985 North Broadway Street for reports of a fire.

Firefighters were on the scene within minutes of the alert and found no smoke or fire coming from the large, 2-story, wood-frame construction, multiunit apartment complex.

Officials confirmed that the fire started in the oven of one of the units due to ‘cleaning mode’ being turned on. The fire was said to be contained to just the oven.

Firefighters ventilated the smoke from the affected apartment and all occupants were allowed to reenter the apartment complex. An apartment manager remained on the scene to clean up a fire extinguisher that was used before the arrival of fire crews.

There were no damages or injuries reported and no one was displaced by the fire. No other information is available at this time.
