(WFRV) – On Tuesday afternoon, the No. 3 Kewaunee baseball team took the field for the first time at the WIAA State Tournament and defeated No. 2 Fennimore 5-3 in the semifinals to advance to the Division 3 Championship Game.
Timely hitting and good pitching were the name of the game for Kewaunee in its first-ever appearance at the state tournament.
The Storm looked like a team that wasn’t afraid of the moment — for good reason — considering the program schedules regular season games at Fox Cities Stadium in hopes of being one of the final teams remaining in the state.
Kewaunee will play in the Division 3 State Championship game on Thursday, June 19 at 12 p.m. The Storm will face the winner of No. 1 Kenosha St. Joseph vs. No. 4 Barron for a chance at its first state title.
