The Latest from Storm Team 5…
A line of strong to severe thunderstorms is impacting western and southwestern Wisconsin this afternoon.
The Storm Prediction Center continues to highlight a risk for damaging winds and heavy downpours here in northeast Wisconsin, especially in the evening hours. Areas south and west of Oshkosh including Green Lake, Marquette and Waushara counties — remain on alert for the strongest storms.
An isolated round during the evening hours will give way to a more widespread round as we move through the evening and overnight. The severe threat should gradually diminish overnight, but gusty winds and steady rain are likely to linger. Be sure to stay aware and have a way to receive warnings, as weather conditions can quickly change this evening.
A FLOOD WATCH is in effect for Waushara, Winnebago and Waupaca counties until 4am Friday morning. A saturated ground, plus another 0.5-1″ of rain could lead to localized flooding.
Otherwise, cloudy skies and expect a night with a low in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
Friday starts off with lingering clouds and maybe a stray morning shower. The rest of the day stays mostly cloudy with drier conditions and highs reaching the mid 70s. Looking ahead to the weekend, mostly sunny with building humidity as highs reach the low 80s. Watching for a few strong to severe storms on Sunday as a cold front cuts into the state.
