DE PERE, Wis. (WFRV) – A soon-to-be sophomore at West De Pere high school is making waves on the track at the age of 14. In April, Hank Vossberg won his first professional race at a Moto America Talent Cup event in Alabama. But his road to victory lane was anything but guaranteed.
After his family moved to Wisconsin from Minnesota back in 2022, Vossberg hit the ground running by signing up for a race in Shawano. What followed was an accident during his practice run. The then-12-year-old lost control of the steering of his bike and was sent airborne.
Vossberg was rushed to the hospital where doctors determined he broke his right leg as well as his femur in two places. Shockingly enough, the injury only kept the De Pere racer on the mend for six weeks, thanks to a titanium rod placed in his leg during surgery.
Three years later, Vossberg is winning races at the professional level, while maintaining his love for everything that goes into the sport, from working on the motorcycles to ultimately riding them.
