The Latest from Storm Team 5…
Happy 4th of July from us at Storm Team 5! We had a few isolated showers and storms this morning, but for the most part it is has been quiet, but hot and humid.
For any evening plans and fireworks displays, skies should be mostly clear with temperatures around 80. Plan on it being a bit sticky as well. Overnight lows in the upper 60s and low 70s.
Saturday will start mostly sunny, but anytime after 3pm, there is a chance of scattered showers and storms to move into the area along a cold front. While widespread severe weather is not expected, a storm or two could trigger a warning with the main impacts being gusty winds, hail around 1″ and downpours.
Highs in the upper 80s and low 90s paired with dew points in the low 70s will make it feel like the low to mid 90s.
If you are heading out on the water, a south wind that could gust to 25-30mph will bring choppy 2-4 foot waves on the bay and lake and the potential for rip currents. A Beach Hazard Statement and Small Craft Advisory have been posted for tomorrow from 1 p.m. until Sunday morning at 4 a.m.
Sunday, despite a day break shower, should see decreasing clouds, calmer winds and cooler temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s. Our first day bay to work Monday will make us want to take one more day off, mostly sunny with highs in the low 80s. Rain and storm chances do return Tuesday and Wednesday.
