MIDDLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities say three people are dead following a double homicide and the subsequent death of a suspect in southern Wisconsin on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home on the 8500 block of Stonebrook Circle, where a man and woman were found dead.

Before deputies arrived, the suspect reportedly left the scene in a vehicle. A short time later, that vehicle was located by the Wisconsin State Patrol in Vernon County.
Authorities say a traffic stop was initiated, but the driver refused to comply with verbal commands, leading to a standoff. The suspect later died, according to officials.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is handling the double homicide investigation, while the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the suspect’s death.

“We understand this news is alarming, and we want the community to know this is an ongoing priority for our agency,” said Dane County Sheriff Kalvin Barrett. “We will continue to share more details as they become available and when appropriate to protect the investigation’s integrity.”
The names of the deceased and their causes of death will be released by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
