The Latest from Storm Team…
After a sunny start to our day, we have seen the clouds build in associated with a cluster of rain and storms is moving out of Iowa.
For the rest of today, there is a chance of a isolated shower or downpour this evening, but our better rain and isolated storm chance moves in anytime after 8pm. While severe weather is not expected, locally heavy rain is possible. A quick inch of rain is possible in the steadiest of downpours. Rain will lift around daybreak tomorrow morning.
For Saturday, expect a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the low 80s and muggy dew points. Looks like our next weather maker will be transporting some wildfire smoke, so a statewide AIR QUALITY ALERT is in effect through Monday.
Anytime after 11am through 5pm, a cold front slicing through the state will bring a broken line of scattered showers and storms. Widespread severe weather looks low, but a storm or two could be on the strong side producing gusty winds, downpours and small hail. Multi day rain fall totals could push 2″ in a few locations.
Mostly sunny skies for Monday and the heat is on again with highs closing in on 90 degrees. Plan on a rain and storm chance returning later Tuesday going into Wednesday.
