APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – Child Care Resource & Referral celebrated the graduation of seven individuals from the community’s first “Road to Success” program, a comprehensive training initiative for aspiring child care teachers.
The 13-week in-person program, hosted at the Oshkosh Area United Way, provided foundational coursework in early childhood development, CPR/AED, first aid, safety, and social-emotional development.

The initiative was a collaboration between Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R), the Oshkosh Area United Way, Forward Service, and the Fox Valley Workforce Development Board (FVWDB). It aims to address the region’s growing demand for qualified child care professionals.
With funding from the FVWDB’s QUEST grant, the program was free for participants and included support with child care and transportation needs throughout the training.

“These graduates are stepping into one of the most important roles in our community,” said Candy Hall, CCR&R executive director. “They are not just caregivers—they are educators, nurturers, and role models who will shape the lives of the children they work with on a daily basis.”
The graduation ceremony featured a light breakfast, certificate presentations, and a short reception attended by families, mentors, and community leaders.
