MANITOWOC COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – A brief but intense storm in Manitowoc County produced a funnel cloud, according to video submitted to Local 5 News.
The video, captured by a resident on Stone Road just north of Highway 10 at around 4:38 p.m., shows what appears to be a funnel cloud forming from a pop-up storm that passed through northeast Wisconsin on Saturday. Strong winds were also visible in the footage.
Although no tornado or severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for the area, the National Weather Service did release a special weather statement urging residents to remain alert.
Storm Team 5 Chief Meteorologist Luke Sampe is submitting the video to the National Weather Service for review. If officials decide to investigate the area further and confirm tornadic activity, it could add to Wisconsin’s already above-average tornado count for the year.
