FLORENCE, Wis. (WFRV) – The driver of a motorcycle is dead following a crash with a deer Friday night in northern Wisconsin, authorities say.
According to a release from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at 9:55 p.m. to Menominee River Road in the town of Florence after the passenger of a motorcycle reported a crash involving their vehicle and a deer.
Neither the 59-year-old man who drove the motorcycle nor the 59-year-old woman passenger who reported the crash was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

The 59-year-old man was said to have suffered severe head trauma and, despite life-saving measures, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 59-year-old woman was taken to Marshfield Medical Center Dickinson, where she was treated for her injuries and later released.
Officials say names are not being released at this time as an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
