WOOD RIVER, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in northern Wisconsin released information about an incident where a 10-year-old girl died after getting hit by a vehicle.
According to the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office, on July 20, around 11:50 a.m., a call came in reporting a 10-year-old girl was hit by a vehicle. The reported incident happened in the Burnett Dairy Cooperative parking lot in Wood River Township.

Authorities say the girl was airlifted to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. The identity of the girl was not released.
The driver was identified as an 85-year-old from Grantsburg. The incident is under investigation, but the sheriff’s office said it appears to be accidental.
Burnett County is in the northwest part of Wisconsin near the border of Minnesota.
