VIENNA, Wis. (WFRV) – Police in Wisconsin are issuing strong reminders after a squad car was significantly damaged by a driver suspected to be operating while intoxicated on July 20.
The DeForest Police Department reported that officers were assisting the Wisconsin State Patrol at the scene of a motor vehicle crash on the morning of July 20 on the northbound side of I-39/90/94.

Officers reported that during that investigation, a suspected intoxicated driver heading south hit an unoccupied DeForest Police Department squad car, seriously damaging both vehicles and causing injuries to the occupants of the striking vehicle.
Police Chief James Olson said in a release that the incident is a reminder of the devastation that impaired driving can cause.

“Loss of life, property damage and the lasting psychological impacts on those who witness and respond to these horrific incidents cannot be understated,” Chief Olson said. “With the availability of safe ride programs, crashes like these are avoidable.”
