TOWN OF ATHELSTANE, Wis. WFRV) – A 55-year-old man from Illinois died Saturday after an ATV crash in Marinette County.
The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on a trail off Benson Lake Road in the Town of Athelstane.
According to a press release, investigators say Michael Labree of Gilberts, Illinois was riding east on the trail when he failed to make a curve. His ATV rolled over, and he was ejected from the vehicle.

Labree was wearing a helmet but died from his injuries. The crash is being investigated by the Wisconsin DNR, the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, and the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Fire and EMS crews from Athelstane, Silver Cliff, and Aurora Medical Center responded to the scene.
